Discovering Chakra Balancing: A Journey to Inner Harmony

Updated: 6 days ago

Have you ever felt completely off - not quite ill, but not quite yourself either? Perhaps there's been a low hum of anxiety that you can't quite explain, a heaviness in your chest, or a sense that your energy just isn't flowing the way it used to. If any of that resonates, you may be experiencing what many holistic therapists would describe as an imbalance in your chakra system.

I'm Julie, and at Consciousness Awakened, I offer Chakra Balancing sessions as part of a deeply considered approach to holistic well-being. In this post, I would love to walk you through what chakra balancing actually is, what it can help with, and what you might experience when you come to see me.

So, What Exactly Is a Chakra?

The word 'chakra' comes from the Sanskrit for 'wheel' or 'disc' and refers to the energy centres within the body that are central to many ancient Eastern healing traditions. There are seven main chakras, each located along the spine from the base up to the crown of the head. Each one is associated with specific physical, emotional, and spiritual qualities.

Think of them as spinning wheels of energy. When they are open and balanced, energy flows freely through your body, and you tend to feel vital, grounded, and emotionally resilient. When one or more become blocked, overactive, or underactive, you may begin to notice the effects - physically, mentally, or emotionally.

The Seven Main Chakras

Root Chakra (Mūlādhāra) - Grounding, security, and our sense of belonging

Sacral Chakra (Svādhiṣṭhāna) - Creativity, pleasure, and emotional connection

Solar Plexus Chakra (Maṇipūra) - Personal power, confidence, and self-worth

Heart Chakra (Anāhata) - Love, compassion, and our ability to give and receive

Throat Chakra (Viśuddha) - Communication, truth, and self-expression

Third Eye Chakra (Ājñā) - Intuition, wisdom, and clarity of thought

Crown Chakra (Sahasrāra) - Spiritual connection, consciousness, and inner peace

What Is Chakra Balancing?

Chakra balancing is a gentle, non-invasive holistic therapy that works with the body's energy system to identify and release blockages, restore flow, and bring the chakras back into a state of harmony. It sits within the broader tradition of energy healing and shares principles with practices such as Reiki, acupuncture, and sound healing.

During a session, I work intuitively, using a combination of techniques that may include Reiki energy, crystals, guided breathwork, sound/vibration, and intentional presence. My aim is to sense and address areas of imbalance across your energy centres. The goal is always the same: to help you feel more at ease within yourself, more connected to your own inner wisdom, and more settled in body and mind.

"True healing begins when we stop fighting ourselves and start listening to the quiet wisdom within."

The Benefits of Chakra Balancing

People come to chakra balancing for many different reasons, and experiences vary from person to person. What I find most beautiful about this work is how deeply personal it is; your session will reflect exactly what you need in that moment, not what someone else experienced.

That said, many clients describe experiencing some or all of the following benefits:

✦ A profound sense of calm and deep relaxation

✦ Reduced feelings of anxiety, stress, and overwhelm

✦ Greater emotional clarity and a sense of perspective

✦ Increased energy, motivation, and mental focus

✦ A feeling of being more grounded and centred

✦ Improved sleep quality and a quieter mind

✦ A stronger sense of personal identity and self-worth

✦ A deeper connection to your own intuition and inner guidance

✦ A gentle release of emotions that have been held or suppressed

✦ An overall sense of harmony - mind, body, and spirit

Some clients notice shifts during the session itself; others find that changes unfold gradually over the days that follow. There is no right or wrong way to experience this work; it meets you where you are.

What Can Chakra Balancing Help With?

Chakra balancing is not a medical treatment, and I would never suggest it as a replacement for professional medical or mental health care. However, as a complementary therapy, it can offer beautiful support alongside conventional approaches for a wide range of experiences, including:

Emotional & Mental Wellbeing

✦ Anxiety, worry, or a persistent sense of unease

✦ Low mood, emotional flatness, or disconnection

✦ Difficulty making decisions or trusting yourself

✦ Grief, loss, or times of major life transition

✦ Burnout or emotional exhaustion

Physical Symptoms Linked to Stress

✦ Tension held in the body; particularly the neck, shoulders, and jaw

✦ Digestive discomfort or a 'knotted' feeling in the stomach

✦ Fatigue or feeling persistently depleted

✦ Disrupted sleep patterns

✦ A sense of physical heaviness or lethargy

Spiritual & Personal Growth

✦ Feeling disconnected from yourself or your sense of purpose

✦ A desire to deepen your intuition or spiritual awareness

✦ Working through limiting beliefs or patterns that keep repeating

✦ Wanting to feel more present, grounded, and alive in your daily life

What to Expect from Your Session

I understand that coming for any kind of holistic therapy for the first time can feel a little unknown, and I want you to feel completely at ease from the moment you arrive.

Before Your Session

We begin with a gentle, unhurried consultation. This is your time to share whatever feels relevant: how you've been feeling, what's been on your mind, and any areas of your body or life where you feel stuck or unsettled. There is no expectation and nothing you need to prepare. Simply arrive as you are.

During Your Session

You will lie fully clothed and comfortably supported on a treatment couch, in a warm, softly lit, and peaceful space. Soothing music plays gently in the background. You are invited to simply close your eyes and rest.

I will work quietly around and above your body, using a combination of light touch and near-the-body work across your chakra centres. I may introduce crystals, scents, and sound instruments such as tuning forks, chosen specifically for your needs. I will draw on Reiki energy to support the process of release and restoration. Many people feel a wonderful warmth, tingling, or a sense of floating during the session; others simply drift into a state of deep rest.

Sessions typically last around 60 minutes, although I always allow time for you to gently return to the room at your own pace.

After Your Session

We close with a quiet sharing of anything I noticed during the session, alongside any guidance or reflections that feel helpful for you to carry forward. I will also offer some gentle aftercare suggestions: drinking plenty of water, resting if you can, and being kind to yourself in the hours that follow.

Some people feel immediately lighter and energised. Others feel a deeper tiredness as the body integrates the work. Both are entirely natural responses - your energy system is simply doing what it needs to do.

Embracing Your Healing Journey

If something in this post has spoken to you, I would be honoured to hold space for your healing. Whether you are new to energy work or returning to a practice you love, a Chakra Balancing session at Consciousness Awakened is a beautiful place to begin.

In this nurturing environment, you can explore the depths of your inner self. Together, we can embark on a journey towards holistic healing and self-discovery, allowing you to reconnect with your authentic self and foster lasting peace and happiness.
